ADVOCACY EXPERT
Within delegated authority and under the general guidance of the Executive Director, the Advocacy Expert is responsible for maintaining complete awareness on AIR services, remittance related facts, to Member States, remittance senders and receivers, development partners and other stakeholders, creation of favorable image and good will through innovative and proactive communications. She/he keeps records of the Institutional development and important events. Prepares promotional materials and assist in fund-raising activities. Monitors and evaluates impacts and improvements of advocacy works.

2. Major Duties and Responsibilities
  • Advises the Executive Director in advocacy and awareness creation activities;
  • Oversees the advocacy and awareness creation activities of the Institute;
  • Formulates policies, guidelines, strategies, methodologies and action plans related to communications, and networking activities of the Institute;
  • Performs all relevant activities to maintain sound and strong relations between AIR and Member States, Regional Economic Communities (RECs), development partners, donors, and other stakeholders at large.
  • Produce and disseminates promotional leaflets, posters, brochures, etc. in collaboration with other colleagues.
  • Organizes and facilitates conferences, seminars, general assemblies, etc.
  • Participates in the documentation and dissemination of best practices;
  • Prepares and submit periodic activity and mission reports;
  • Works collaboratively with other colleagues to achieve organizational goals;
  • Performs related activities assigned by the Executive Director.
3. Qualifications and Work Experience Required
3.1 Education/Training Candidates must hold Bachelor's University Degree in Political Science and International Relations, or Public Relations and Communications related fields. A Master's in the aforementioned fields is an added advantage.
3.2 Experience: Candidates must have at least 7 years of relevant working experience in Advocacy, public relations and other related works, of which at least 3 years should be at senior position. Specific working knowledge in with African Member States is highly desirable.
3.3 Other Technical Skills
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to organize and motivate others and to work in a multi-cultural environment; Excellent drafting and reporting skills; Good planning and organizational skills. Firm belief in teamwork and gender equality; Knowledge on computer aided training and workshop tools; Proficiency in one of the African Union working languages. Knowledge of several other working language(s) would be an added advantage.
4. Language Requirement
Proficiency in one of the AU working languages (English, French, Arabic and Portuguese) is a must. Knowledge of second or all of the other working languages would be an added advantage
5. Tenure of Appointment
The appointment will be made on a fixed term contract for a period of One Year (1), of which the first three (3) month will be considered as a probationary period.

7. Remuneration
The salary attached to the position is a fixed monthly lump sum of US$ 7,039.79 (P3 Step5) inclusive of all allowances for internationally recruited staff, and US$ 5,884.45 inclusive of all allowances for locally recruited staff.
