MalariaCare, a USAID-funded partnership established in 2012, aims to achieve universal diagnosis and appropriate case management for malaria by strengthening the capacity of malaria-affected countries at all levels of the health system to provide high-quality diagnostic and treatment services for malaria and other febrile illnesses. MalariaCare is seeking a Zonal Coordinator for Lake Zone to provide programmatic support to our global malaria case management activities.
PATH seeks a Zonal Coordinator to join the MalariaCare partnership in Tanzania. The Zonal Coordinator will be responsible for facilitating and providing technical support for the implementation of MalariaCare activities in the Lake Zone regions which include Mwanza, Geita, Mara, Shinyanga, and Simiyu. This position will report to the Program Officer for MalariaCare in Dar es Salaam.The Zonal Coordinator will be based in Mwanza, Tanzania and will report to Program Officer, MalariaCare.
Specific duties and responsibilities:
- Work closely with Malaria Control focal persons at regional and district levels.
- Participate in the preparation of annual country work plans, regional and district plans.
- Identify best practices and sharing lessons learned.
- Provide bi-weekly technical reports to the Dar es Salaam office as necessary.
- Monitor implementation of regional and district plans.
- Provide administrative oversight for the MalariaCare zonal driver
- Participate in periodic field OTSS (diagnostic, clinical care, and M&E) activities in the regions and districts.
- Coordinate with the MalariaCare M&E team to ensure effective collection of data, their analysis, use and development and implementation of effective follow-up activity plans.
- Provide technical support to the RHMTs and C/DHMTs in the implementation of their respective outreach training and support supervision (OTSS) plans.
- Liaise with MalariaCare's Program Officer and technical teams (diagnostics, clinical care and M&E) based in Dar es Salaam to coordinate operations and activities at the regional, district and facility levels.
- Represent MalariaCare in interactions with regional health management teams (RHMT) and council/district health management teams (C/DHMT) of the Tanzania Health Service and other stakeholders within project regions.
- Prepare and make presentations and represent MalariaCare at meetings, workshops, and conferences and contribute to the dissemination of results and other relevant information.
- Establish linkages with all relevant stakeholders and other implementing partners and collaborate as necessary to facilitate effective and efficient implementation of MalariaCare activities within Lake Zone.

- Experience and knowledge in malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control.
- Ability to deliver training in malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control.
- Project planning, implementation and monitoring and evaluation skills
- Ability to work both independently and with competing deadlines and tasks
- Ability to deliver training in malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and control.
- Good interpersonal communication and presentation skills.
- Written and spoken fluency in Kiswahili language.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills in English.
- Willingness to work in hard-to-reach areas with frequent travel as necessary.
- Experience with basic database management and Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
Degree in Medicine (Medical Doctor- MD) or Advanced Diploma in Clinical Medicine (Assistant Medical Officer - AMO) with at least 5 years of experience working in public health, experience with basic database management, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint, previous experience working in the field of malaria prevention, diagnosis, treatment and control is desirable, familiarity and experience working with nongovernmental organizations and civil society in Tanzania.
You must currently have legal authorization to work in Tanzania.
