ADE is a private consultancy company based near Brussels. It supports decision‐makers in formulating, monitoring, implementing and evaluating public policy choices in various fields. ADE has three main areas of specialisation: public policy evaluation, assistance to macroeconomic reforms and to regional development, and rural development and environment. Its main clients are international institutions and agencies, bilateral and multilateral development organisations, and national public institutions (www.ade.eu).
We are currently looking for two Web and Knowledge Management Junior Experts to support the maintenance and effective use of the web platform EYD 2015 that is being created through our programme PPCM (Project and Programme Cycle Management).
The PPCM programme is a EuropeAid's programme that aims at improving the quality of EC external assistance by providing methodological support and training to European Commission (EC) staff involved in the design and implementation of EC external interventions and through knowledge sharing. It is carried out by a consortium of companies led by ADE. The successful applicants would join a small team at ADE's Brussels office, and work closely with staff in EuropeAid.
The EYD 2015 Website
2015 has been designated as the European Year for Development (EYD 2015). DG EuropeAid, which coordinates the year, aims to engage EU member states, civil society and private sector actors as well as EU institutions and international organisations in a joint communication effort to raise awareness about global challenges and build support for EU development cooperation. The EYD 2015 website will be the online core of communication around the European Year, not only by the Commission but also by its partners in Member States, NGOs and international organisations. It will provide information on a simple level which does not require prior knowledge to be understandable, and will lead people to sources of more in‐depth knowledge about topics (such as reports, articles, groups of practitioners in capacity4dev as well as other websites including that of EuropeAid).
Essential Skills and requirements
- At least three years of relevant professional experience;
- University degree in Communication or related studies;
- Excellent communication skills, good team player and client‐oriented attitude;
- Experience of web‐editing and content management, including community management and social media;
- Fluent in English (both writing and speaking), working knowledge of French.
Desirable Skills
- Experience and/or knowledge in the area of development cooperation
- Experience writing/working in Drupal
- Writing and editing copy in English
- Experience in knowledge management and sharing
- Experience of working within one of the EU institutions or on EU‐funded projects
Position‐Overview of the key tasks
The position will be full‐time and based in ADE's Brussels office. The overall assignment shall begin as soon as possible and no later than 17th November 2014 to 31st January 2015 (with possibility of extension).
Tasks
- Manage the functional mailbox and the helpline for the partners working on the EYD2015 website;
- Draft a manual for partners (technical and editorial instructions with screenshots on the basis of materials provided by the project team);
- Act as helpdesk for partners and deal directly with routine questions (basic technical support, content advice). Escalate more complex technical questions to the second level technical helpdesk including by submitting draft JIRA tickets as needed. Forward issues that require the EYD team's attention to the appropriate contact point;
- Manage permissions for partners (allocate user names, resolve issues related to lost passwords, etc.);
- Organise and deliver training via direct meetings in Brussels, phone conferences, videoconferencing, etc.;
- Upload content indicated by the Commission to the website. Support management of content flows and communities;
- Do minimum curation work and retagging (if needed) of partner content upon request;
- Monitor and report on site statistics;
- Support the identification of interesting content for posting on social media from among new posts;
- Provide ad hoc technical support to the EYD2015 team and partners in implementing the web and social media strategy in relation to the website.
