Geita Gold Mine (GGM) is situated in the Lake Victoria Gold fields of North Western Tanzania. It is located within Geita Region, about 85 km's from the Mwanza City and 20 km's South East of the nearest point of Lake Victoria and 5 Km's west of Geita town. The Mine is owned and managed by Anglo Gold Ashanti Limited.
Applications are invited from ambitious, energetic and performance driven individuals to fill a vacant position of Senior Environmental Officer in HSE Department at our Company.
QUALIFICATION: BSc in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Forestry, Natural Resources or related field
At least five years working experience, experience in mining industry is an added advantage
ROLE FUNCTION: To be responsible for implementation of Land, Flora and Fauna Management plans and programs to the best practise standard undertaken in a timely and cost effective way.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Planning and Scheduling of Rehabilitation and Inspection activities and identification of required resources
Implementation and monitoring of rehabilitation programs on site to ensure maximum rehabilitation during the operating life of the
mine.
Evaluation and maintenance of rehabilitated areas
Planning and organizing seed collection and tree nursery activities Maintain "Permit to Clear" system and the disturbed land register.
Identification and storage of topsoil, determining deficit and working out ways to make up the deficit.
Developing and Implementing controls to protect and conserve wildlife onsite
Management of pests including application of biological, mechanical and physical controls, fumigation and relocation of pests such
as bees.
Control of documents and records related to Land, Flora and Fauna
Assist with the implementation of the EMS.
Provide report inputs monthly, quarterly, annually and as instructed by supervisor.
Provide inputs for Mine closure planning
Any other duties as assigned by a supervisor.

Good planning and organizing ability.
Strong analytically and leadership skill. Be a good team player
