The Energy and Water Utilities Regulatory Authority (EWURA) is an independent, world class regulatory authority responsible for licensing, tariff regulation and quality of service regulation of the electricity, water, petroleum and natural gas sectors. ELECTRICITY DIVISION

Post Title: Senior Electricity Inspector
Duty Station: EWURA Head Office – Dar es Salaam
Reports to: Chief Electricity Inspector

Senior Electricity Inspector will assist in monitoring of electricity regulated sector in order to ensure conformity with the provisions of the Act and best practice in electricity industry.

Main Duties and Responsibilities

a) To provide input in the process of developing and reviewing regulatory tools to be used in electricity supply industry in order to ensure compliance with environmental and safety requirements of electricity sector and are in conformity with provision of applicable, laws, standards, codes and good electricity industry practices.

b) To coordinate the licensing of electrical installation personnel and maintain the register of licensed personnel.

c) To assist in reviewing performance and conduct of contractors and wiremen by identifying malpractices.

d) To assist in coordination of inspection of electrical installations to ensure compliance with applicable specifications, standards, safety, environment, and building codes.

e) To participate in monitoring the performance of electrical contractors and wiremen to ensure they work within the limit of their licences.

f) To participate in inspection of incidents of accidents involving utility staff and the public, and claims against properties damaged therein.

g) To participate in pre and post installation inspection of electrical equipment including generators, heavy current switchgear and power transformers.

h) To undertake any other related duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Academic Qualifications and Experience

The ideal candidate for this position should have the following qualifications and experience:

a) Possession of Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering from a recognized University.

b) Proven working experience in the operation, installation and inspection of electrical equipment and/or design and supervision of electrical installation projects.

c) Possession of knowledge and competence in Information and Communications Technology (ICT) application.
