Job Summary
Cardno is seeking a Hazardous Waste Technician at our on-site Hill Air Force Base, Layton, UT location.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
> Hazardous materials mixing, decanting, dispensing, and labeling
> Perform quality assurance and timely delivery for industrial shops who request hazardous material containers prepared for day-use or other short-term use
> Perform paint shaking tasks, break down sealants, and change out 55-gallon drums
> Comply with Federal, State, and Air Force Instructions (i.e. 32-7086- Hazardous Material Management)
> Provide environmental compliance and hazardous waste handling services as directed by the facility manager
> Pick-up and delivery of containers to designated waste sites
> Take samples of waste for analysis
> Perform basic waste screening and lab operations
> Perform duties as required by supervisor

Basic Qualifications:
> Handle hazardous materials such as solvents, paints, multi-component coatings, and hazardous waste associated with coating dispensing
> Wear required personal protective equipment (PPE)
> Must pass a medical fitness exam, respirator fit test, and initial training for chrome (VI) exposure
> Basic understanding of Material Safety Data Sheets
> Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external customers
> Must pass forklift operator skills evaluation
> Must be able to obtain Department of Defense security clearances
> Experience in management and handling of hazardous waste preferred
> Must have or be able to obtain 40 hour HAZWOPER Certificate
> Ability to pass a medical fitness exam and respirator fit test
> Must have or be able to obtain a commercial driver's license
> Computer literate, to include working knowledge of Microsoft Office
> Experience with Enterprise Environmental Safety and Occupational Health Management Information System- Hazardous Material Module (EESOH-MIS HM)
> 40-hour Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) certificate
> Experience working at military installations and industrial operations
