MRC Secretariat is now recruiting highly qualified consultants for the following consultancies

Key Responsibilities:
 
  • In particular, during the project's phase 2 (pilot-testing), provide national/regional knowledge, support the collection and compilation of data needed for the impact analysis and risk assessment as well as setting-up the monitoring network;
  • Coordinate relevant staff that will be involved in the data collection and monitoring activities in the selected pilot basin(s);
  • Under the guidance of the TL, provide assistance with coordination in the selection of one or two Lower Mekong Sub-basins in the countries concerned, including facilitation of respective country consultation process in line with advice of the respective National Mekong Committees;
  • Assist the TL and the EE in the preparation and training of staff of riparian agencies and stakeholders on the regional/national basis as needed;
  • Provide inputs and contributions to the development of the project's methodology and technical approach for impact analysis and risk assessment as needed and outlined by the TL;
  • Plan and organise workshops and consultations as needed and outlined by the TL.
Qualifications/Requirements:
 
  • 5-10 years professional international/regional experience and a higher degree in environmental sciences, water/natural resource management, and/or ecology/hydrobiology;
  • Very good experience in the riverine ecosystems and its assessment;
  • High level experience with the LMB, specific sub-basins and the MRC framework for both the national and regional level;
  • Very good experience in field data gathering, interpretation, and analysis; 
  • Very good experience with the MRC monitoring programmes;
  • Very good familiarity with the MRC Procedures and Technical Guidelines on Water Quality as well as other Procedures relevant to this project;
  • Experience in training and capacity building;
  • Proven experience of working with multi-disciplinary teams and the ability to get things done in a complex technical, organisational, and international environment;
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with a wide range of people;
  • Good written and oral communication skills in the national language of the pilot study and in English.
