Supply Chain Manager , AngloGold Ashanti - Tanzania

Accountabilities: 

1. Direct line responsibility to the Managing Director.

Technical dotted line reporting to the Manager Commercial Services Continental Africa.

2. Procurement (site works and services) – ensure effective management of:

• contracting process for Site Works and Services.
• the establishment of contracts at the least commercial and legal risk.
• the contracting service provided by AngloGold Ashanti Johannesburg Procurement.

3. Purchasing (consumable goods) – ensure effective management of:

• the conclusion of orders at the least commercial and legal risk.
• the consumable buying service provided by Africa Daily Buying (ADB) Johannesburg.
• the reconciliation of the Goods in Transit account.

4. Inventory Management, Warehousing and Materials Engineering – ensure effective

management of:

• the Inventory process including stock classification and level setting.
• the Warehousing process including receipt, safekeeping, audit and issue.
• the stock replenishment process.
• Stock catalogue maintenance, description integrity, stock coding including management of strategic and insurance spares
• Off site repairs and repair organisation identification and development.
• Identification of redundant and obsolete stock including disposal thereof.
• Quality control and quality assurance.

5. Logistics

• ensure proactive management of the logistics transport route to ensure cost effective and timeous receipt of material.
• actively manage the Customs Duties process from identification of tariff numbers to authorisation of customs payment.
• ensure compliance to the Cyanide Code, in conjunction with Metallurgy, for contract conditions, storage and transport.

6. Relationships with Suppliers, Customers, Subordinates and AngloGold Ashanti

• develop and maintain proactive relationships
• undertake Performance Appraisals
• maintain and publish Management Reports
• introduce training programmes for employees and proactively mange   localisation programmes.

7. Strategy, Innovation, Policy and Procedures

• continually challenge current processes, investigate and introduce approved Supply Chain enhancements.
• ensure that all transactions are supported by Policy and Procedures.

Desired Skills and Experience

Qualifications and Experience:

1. Tertiary Qualification in Commerce, Supply Chain and Logistics.
2. Experience in a Procurement and Supply Chain Management position.
3. Dynamic knowledge and understanding of the Supply Chain, Business and the Mining environment.
4. Working experience is required in Procurement, Purchasing, Inventory, Warehouse Management, Materials Engineering, Logistics, Sea and Air Freight, Safety and Health.
