Job Description

Purpose of the Role 
 
Full accountability for the technical management accounting for IAG Cargo Limited, the separate legal entity covering IAG Cargo commercial and management functions, including production of the statutory management accounts, submission to IAG Group, & compliance with all IFRS & UK GAAP requirements.
 
Owner of the IAGCL finance systems and chart of accounts.
 
Scope of the Role
 
Reporting covering IAG Cargo - Turnover of €1.3bn and operating costs of €1bn, accounted for across 3 different legal entities – BA, IB and IAG Cargo Limited. Specific statutory and management responsibility for IAG Cargo Ltd - turnover & costs ~ €60m.

Key Accountabilities

  • Maintain the IAGCL finance system (Oracle ledger) and chart of accounts for the IAG cargo legal entity (IAGCL)
  • Ensure appropriate financial controls are in place in the ledger
  • Manage and own the worldwide end to end processes for recording transactions within IAGCL
  • Be the IAGCL finance systems expert and single point of contact for the wider IAG cargo finance team who will use the ledgers
  • Ensure all appropriate financial accounting is carried out on a monthly and quarterly basis for IAGCL ledgers
  • Maintain the mechanism for the recharging of the costs of IAGCL to the operating companies BA & IB including appropriate VAT accounting
  • Segment the annual profit and loss balance into the countries where IAGCL has a permanent establishment for tax purposes and liaise with IAG tax to enable tax filing worldwide
  • Manage the intercompany transactions with BA, IB and IAG
  • Manage the annual external audit for IAGCL
  • Assist wider IAGC reporting team in the consolidation of the overall IAGC management accounts, including support for budgeting, forecasting and financial analysis
  • Proactively identify and articulate opportunities to add value
  • Continuous improvement of service levels and business processes, proactively identifying opportunities for continuous improvement

Required Skills, Qualifications & Experience

Skills
  • Practical technical accounting
  • Analytical and problem solving skills including ability to manipulate, analyse and interpret financial and business data
  • Able to build and maintain strong relationships
  • Proactive, taking the initiative to explore issues and to generate new ideas and approaches
  • Flexible in approach, responding positively to change
  • Able to deal with ambiguity

Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/ACMA)
Experience
  • Strong accounting background, including reporting, consolidation and financial analysis
  • Good understanding of finance theory and good level of practical finance experience in technical group accounting
  • Numerate and accurate
  • Good IT skills and experience of finance systems preferably including Oracle and Excel
