Ward Matron

Area of Responsibility:    Assessment Ward/Short Stay Unit

Reporting to:                     Administrator

Job Summary

·         The post holder will have 24 hour continuing responsibility for the quality of care, cleanliness, environment and infection, prevention & control within the clinical area and will provide professional advice and support at both Unit and Directorate level.

·         Demonstrate good clinical practice alongside the nursing team on a regular basis, ensuring clinical credibility is maintained. Provide clinical support and advice to patients and all grades of staff.

·         To implement the Trusts' Core Values and Philosophy of nursing, ensuring they are embedded into everyday practice and evaluate their impact on the customer experience.

·         To manage the work within the clinical area effectively and make the best use of resources; encouraging and leading service development accordingly.

·         To provide strong professional nursing leadership to staff within sphere of clinical responsibility.

·         To implement the philosophy of nursing practice within the Unit and ensure that all staff understand the significance of this philosophy to practice, monitoring its impact on the customer experience.

·         Develop the Ward/Unit team in relation to staff development and team building; ensuring that all staff participates in regular performance reviews. Where applicable, ensure that the Trust Performance Management policies are utilized.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Minimum Diploma holder in nursing or related field from recognized institution

Experience 3 years and above

REMUNERATION
