The organisation:

TEACH aims to act as a catalyst of economic empowerment and community development in Tanzania's Kilimanjaro region by partnering with aspiring entrepreneurs to incubate and accelerating social enterprises.

Our approach integrates social entrepreneurship with living leadership. We are partnering with aspiring entrepreneurs and assisting them, through our BTC programme and soon incubation platform, to grow into exceptional leaders who not only learn leadership but live leadership as models of integrity and social commitment as they also become successful, community-minded entrepreneurs.
The focus of our work is on communities in the Kilimanjaro region of Tanzania, however we also have supportive branches in the UK and Canada that engage youth to learn about, connect with and support the entrepreneurs with whom we are working in Tanzania.

The role:

As Project Officer, your role is drive TEACH's Economic Empowerment projects through building strong relationships with the communities that we work with, primarily in the Highlands of Kilimanjaro. You will co-develop and deliver training on topics such as Entrepreneurship, Leadership, Project Management and holistic life skills such as Feminine Health and HIV/AIDS. You will also be responsible for reporting on project progress and conducting both primary and secondary research to better inform both current and future projects within TEACH.

Core responsibilities and objectives:

  • Training & Curriculum Development – supporting the design and development of professional standard training materials that are stretching yet relevant for the beneficiaries with which we work (primarily youth)
  • Training Delivery – delivering engaging training through the use of experiential learning and participatory methods
  • Report Writing – frequent reporting on project progress
  • Research – both primary and secondary research relating to the core aspects of current and future projects
  • Community Engagement – maintaining strong lines of communication with both direct and indirect beneficiaries and local officials
Skills & Experiences
You will have either an undergraduate or postgraduate degree in Community Development, Entrepreneurship or associated subjects and the following skillset / experience:
·         Community Development – ideally 1-3 years of experience or equivalent
·         Entrepreneurship
·         Training Delivery
·         Project Management Cycle – ideally having worked within internationally accepted PM Frameworks
·         Experience living or working within the Highland communities of Kilimanjaro
