Founded in 1903, Fauna & Flora International (FFI) is the world's longest-established international conservation organisation. Our vision is to create a sustainable future for the planet where biodiversity is conserved by the people living closest to it. We aim to do this through the conservation of threatened species and ecosystems worldwide, choosing solutions that are sustainable, based on sound science and take account of human needs. We have become a trusted entity in the world of conservation. Today FFI is active in over 40 countries.
Working closely with local partners, the Asia Pacific Programme currently includes a broad range of species and landscape targeted conservation initiatives in Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Philippines, Vietnam, Laos and Myanmar, and has country programme offices in Phnom Penh, Nanning, Jakarta, Manila and Hanoi. Around 70 projects are being implemented in the region by a team of approximately 200 staff, consultants, volunteers and partner organisations with an annual regional budget of approximately USD 9 million.
FFI has been active in Cambodia since 1996 and was one of the first conservation NGOs to work in the country. We currently work in partnership with the Ministry of Environment and Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry & Fisheries. The priorities of our work in Cambodia are to secure and improve the management of areas important to the country's biodiversity, to help build national capacity, by providing Cambodian nationals with the necessary skills, experience and materials to conserve their unique natural heritage, and to preserve some of the region's most threatened species.
The Helping Address Rural Vulnerabilities and Ecosystem STability Program (USAID-HARVEST) is a multi-year USAID effort, which aims to improve food security through enhanced agricultural development and rational management of natural resources in Cambodia. The five-year project is designed to increase food availability and access by bolstering productivity of agriculture, fisheries and forestry; strengthening value-added chains; and creating private sector led rural employment. The programme will benefit 70,000 households and will maximise working relationships with the Royal Government of Cambodia, private sector allies, community based organisations and local non-governmental organisations.
FFI is the lead sub-contractor for all NRM and Forestry related activities under USAID-HARVEST and is implementing a complex suite of conservation actions to be delivered over the next two years. Thematic areas of investment under the project include: Watershed Management; Community Forestry; Protected Area management; NTFP and enterprise development; and Awareness Campaigns on the Importance of Forest Conservation and Global Climate Change.
FFI is seeking a dynamic and competent individual to provide management and oversight of FFI's USAID-funded subcontract to the HARVEST project in the Tonle Sap basin, Cambodia. The successful candidate will be an experienced project manager, having worked a minimum of six years in the field of biodiversity conservation and / or natural resource management or a related sector. Proven experience in team management, leadership and successful project delivery is required. S/he will have an MSc, or equivalent level in a relevant discipline. S/he will have demonstrable experience engaging with government, donors and local partners at all levels. Ideally the successful candidate will have good technical understanding of a broad range of NRM, Forestry and Climate Change approaches. This position is responsible for ensuring timely delivery of all HARVEST subcontract activities and will require regular coordination with donors, while remaining compliant with relevant USAID rules and regulations.
The successful candidate will be able to speak confidently on technical concepts with diverse audiences at a range of levels and be comfortable working in both field and office conditions. The individual must have a commitment to working in partnership with donor agencies, national staff and local organisations to address key environmental issues.
