The Global Water Partnership (GWP) is a worldwide network and an intergovernmental organisation, which supports countries to implement sustainable management of their water resources through building partnerships at local, national, regional and global level. Created in 1996, the network now spans 84 Country Water Partnerships within 13 Regional Water Partnerships, with a Global Secretariat (GWPO) in Stockholm, Sweden. For more information: www.gwp.org GLOBAL PROJECTS The Global Projects unit supports GWP´s contribution towards specific global events and the evolution of a global institutional architecture for water security, within the post-2015 development framework. In particular, the Global Dialogue Project will contribute at a high level to developing and promoting a Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) on water. An expert Task Force will develop new understanding on the scale and reach of the impact of water security on economic growth, as well as alternative water development pathways. Through country consultations this information will help motivate country level decisions, investments and actions on water security. At global level, the work of the Global Dialogue Project will feed into the goals, targets and related monitoring for the SDGs and the post-2015 development framework.
SCOPE OF THIS POSITION: The position supports the Head of Global Projects in developing and managing the global outreach of GWP, and in particular ensuring effective interaction between the various components of the Global Dialogue Project. It supports the administration, monitoring and logistics, including the organization of meetings of the Task Force, organising the attendance by key participants at major global events, supporting the dissemination of information and administrative collaboration with the other units at GWPO Secretariat as well as key partners of GWP.
Specific duties:
  • Support the day-to-day management and administration of the implementation and delivery of activities and budgets of Global Projects against work plans and budget forecasts.
  • Assist in the synthesis of lessons and outcomes of the Global Dialogue Project implementation and feed into the High Level Dialogue on Water Security and Growth.
  • Support and administer the contractual relationships between GWPO and members of the Task Force, experts and key partners for the Global Dialogue Project and other projects.
  • Assist in the quality control and consolidation of reports and budgets for the Global Dialogue Project.
  • Assist and support the implementation of the Country Consultation Process; identify and interact with relevant GWP Country Water Partnerships, supporting the administration of the consultation process, maintaining proper records of the consultation process and supporting the creation of reports.
  • Develop and maintain positive working relationships with all stakeholders and other constituencies that are important to the success of the Project.
Meeting logistics and administration Supporting the logistical and administrative management of Global Projects, including organising travel, hotel accommodation, booking of meeting rooms, etc.
Assist and support the Global Dialogue Task Force in the planning and preparation of Task Force meetings, coordination of logistics during the meetings.
Assist in the planning and organisation of any other global events as requested. Support the logistical administration of the interaction between the Co-Chairs and Task Force members with the UN Open Working Group, including organising travel in conjunction with relevant global events.
EXPERIENCE AND COMPETENCIES
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in project management and event organization.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Other languages are an advantage.
  • Ability to coordinate and manage multiple tasks with excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to express ideas clearly and concisely in written and oral form, and to listen to and acknowledge others' perspectives and views.
  • Service-oriented work style, with excellent interpersonal skills, able to work effectively and harmoniously at all levels.
  • Experience in a multicultural environment.
  • Proven ability to work as part of a team.
  • Computer skills, including internet navigation, experience with the Microsoft suite of programmes, use of spread sheets and an aptitude to acquire web editing skills.
