VACANCIES ANNOUNCEMENT
The Public Service Recruitment Secretariat was established in accordance with
Section No. 29 (1) of the Public Service (Amendment) Act, No. 18 of 2007. One of the
main functions of this organ is to advertise vacant posts occurring in the Public Service
and conduct recruitment process.
On behalf of the Ministry of Information Culture and Sports (Tanzania
Broadcasting Corporation) Public Service Recruitment Secretariat invites qualified
Tanzanian to fill various vacant posts as follows:-
1.0 THE TANZANIA BROADCASTING CORPORATION - (TBC)
The Tanzania Broadcasting Corporation (TBC) is a Public Service Broadcaster
established by Government Order in 2007 and became operational on 1st July, 2007
replacing the then Tanzania Broadcasting Services – Taasisi ya Utangazaji Tanzania
(TUT). TUT was established in the year 2002 pursuant to Public Corporation Act No 2 of
1992, Government Notice No 20 of 14th June 2002.

1.1 PROJECT MANAGER (1- POST)
1.1.1 QUALIFICATION: Holder of Masters Degree in Economics, Finance, Law, Management, Business Administration or its equivalent from a recognized Institution and should have 10 years working experience 3 of which must be at Senior Managerial Level. Computer skills are essential. 1.1.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Heads the Planning and Development Department, Coordinates the planning functions of the Corporation, Monitors the implementation of business plans and other short and long term plans, Coordinates the preparations of annual budget, Ensures the operations of the Corporation proceeds in accordance with the approved budget, Coordinates the development plans with a view of identifying potential venture projects or investment opportunities, Liaises with the Legal and Estate Departments that the Corporation's properties – particularly land – have legal ownership, Supervises income generation from non-core business projects of the Corporation, Performs other related duties as may be assigned by the Director General from time to time.
1.1.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 18
1.2 PRINCIPAL TECHNICIAN Grade I & II (2 - POST)
1.2.1 QUALIFICATION
Holder of Full Technician certificate (FTC) in electronics and Telecommunications / Electrical or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Should have at least three years working experience.

1.2.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To carry out technical operations, servicing and maintenance work under minimum supervision
To take care of all equipment at his/her work place
To give Technical advice to his/her supervisor
To carry out more complex operations, maintenance and servicing of equipment in the Broadcasting House, transmitting station and ENG/EFP van
He/ She is the principal advisor of the Manager of his/her section on all duties performed by technicians
To perform any other duties assigned
1.2.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 10 for Principal Technician Grade II and PGSS 12 Principal Technician Grade I
1.3 PRINCIPAL PROGRAMME PRODUCER I (1- POST)
1.3.1 QUALIFICATION
Holder of Degree / Advanced Diploma in Journalism, Theatre Art or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Should have at least five years of work experience.
1.3.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To undertake production of planned television programmes in the field of News and Current Affairs, Drama, Light entertainment/music, education/development, talk shows/documentaries/magazine, religious programmes, sports etc
Responsible for the quality of the programme in terms of lighting, sound recording, camera work, script writing, and editing
Ensures that programmes are produced according to budget allocations.
Emanating leadership qualities to control staff under his/her programme of work
Can work in routine programme-scheduling
Purchase programme in accordance with laid down policies
Liaising with researchers on programmes production trends and demands.
1.3.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 16

1.4 SENIOR PRODUCER Grade III (1 - POST)
1.4.1 QUALIFICATION
Holder of Degree / Advanced Diploma in Journalism, Theatre Art or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Should have at least three years of work experience.
1.4.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To undertake production of planned television programmes in the field of News and Current Affairs, Drama, Light entertainment/music, education/development, talk shows/documentaries/magazine, religious programmes, sports etc
Responsible for the quality of the programme in terms of lighting, sound recording, camera work, script writing, and editing
Ensures that programmes are produced according to budget allocations.
Emanating leadership qualities to control staff under his/her programme of work
Can work in routine programme-scheduling
Purchase programme in accordance with laid down policies

1.4.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 8
1.5 PROGRAMME PRODUCER GRADE III (1 - POST)
1.5.1 QUALIFICATION
Holder of Degree / Advanced Diploma in Journalism, Theatre Art or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Should have at least three years of work experience.
1.5.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

1.6 SENIOR TECHNICIAN Grade I & II (4 - POST)
1.6.1 QUALIFICATION
Holder of a full Technician Certificate (FTC) in electronics and telecommunications / Electrical or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Should have at least three years of work experience.
1.6.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
T o carry out technical operations, servicing and maintenance work under supervision of experienced Engineer
To take care of all equipment at his/her work place
To carry out maintenance, servicing and operation of technical equipment with minimum supervision
Calibrate and align broadcasting equipment and tools.
To deal with microwave and satellite links
Perform any other duty assigned.
1.6.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 7 & 8 Respectively
1.7 SENIOR JOURNALIST GRADE III (1 - POST)
1.7.1 QUALIFICATION
Holder of Degree / Advanced Diploma in Journalism, Theatre Art or its equivalent from a recognized institution. Should have at least three years of work experience.
1.7.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
To edit news and current affairs brought in by reporters
To give sound news judgement and editorial decision in line with laid down editorial policy of TBC
Cultivate good working relations with various leaders of institutions and members of the public to guarantee
Ensures that programmes are produced according to budget allocations.
Emanating leadership qualities to control staff under his/her programme of work

Can work in routine programme-scheduling
Purchase programme in accordance with laid down policies
Liaising with researchers on programmes production trends and demands.
1.7.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 8
1.8 ACCOUNTANT Grade I (1 - POST)
1.8.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of NBAA Professional Level II & III Certificate, B.Com majoring in Accountancy, or Advanced Diploma in Accountancy from a recognized institution with two years working experience in Public Service.
1.8.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To post subsidiary registers, sales, staff debtors, sundry debtors and creditors, fixed assets, investment, etc.
Preparation of Bank and Final Accounts reconciliation
Making sure that posting of journal entries duty is performed well without delay
To maintain fixed assets registers and prepare schedule of fixed assets for final accounts
To verify assets and reconcile the same between general ledger and fixed assets register
To supervise the annual stock taking exercise and reconciliation of stocks.
To ensure that employees are paid right rates with proper deductions being made
To perform any other duties assigned
1.8.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 7
1.9 ASSISTANT INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY OFFICER (1 - POST)
1.9.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Diploma in Information Technology or equivalent qualifications from a recognized institution plus at least one year of relevant experience.
1.9.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Maintains servers, workstations and peripherals
Carries out system back

Conducts in house training on computer application
Provides IT support services to users
Performs any other related duties assigned by supervisor.
1.9.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 6
1.10 SENIOR DRIVER GRADE III (1 - POST)
1.10.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Secondary School Education Certificate should posses class 'C' driving License with at least three years of driving experience without causing road accident.
1.10.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Driving of motor vehicles, cars, pick-ups and lories as may be assigned
Ensuring that motor vehicles and their accessories are in good condition
Make some minor repairs
Maintaining and recording log sheets for all journeys made
1.10.2 Salary: Within the salary Scale of POSS 6
1.11 SECURITY GUARD (1 - POST)
1.11.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Secondary School education certificate
People's Militia or National Service Voluntary Training Course or equivalent
Working experience of at least two (2) years in related field
1.11.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Report to the Head of Security Services
Guard TBC surroundings
Ensuring property of TBC are in safe custody
Checking in coming and outgoing materials and equipments
Identifying and receiving visitors
Prepare daily security report
Perform any other related duties assigned

1.12 JOURNALIST /PRESENTER Grade I and II (2 - POSTS)
1.12.1 QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:
Holder of Degree / Advanced Diploma in Journalism and Mass Communication or Theatre Arts from recognized institute.
A working experience of at least two years (2) as Radio/TV Journalist and Presenter of Programmes in both languages, English and Swahili.
Must be very fluent in spoken English and Swahili
Computer literate
1.12.2 DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
To undertake production of planned quality radio or television programmes in the field of:
News and current affairs
Drama
Entertainment/music/sports
Education/development
Talk shows/documentaries
Religious programmes
1.12.3 Salary: Within the salary Scale of PGSS 6 & PGSS 7
