As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwlde operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives.

GIZ is looking to fill the position of a Project Manager Public Private Partnership (PPP)in the programme Employment for Sustainable Development in Africa, (E4D)

Duty station: Dar es Salaam
Terms of the Contract: Fixed term contract.

Responsibilities:
The project manager PPP is assisting the GIZ programme officers in planning, designing, implementing and assessing partnership projects for sustainable development with the private sector financed by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ)

Tasks
• In close cooperation with GIZ colleagues and with partner companies acquire, design and negotiate conditions for new projects in line with specified guidelines and in consultation with the responsible units at GIZ headquarters in Germany
• Provide sector specific and strategic advise to GIZ colleagues, on integrating the BMZ specific partnership philosophy into development cooperation
• Initiate and accompany studies and workshops related to the business landscape and impact of PPP related activities
• Implement monitoring and evaluation measures for ongoing and finalised partnerships
• Document lessons learned of concrete partnerships
• Manage administrative issues related. to contractual and financial arrangements of GIZ partnership projects in Tanzania
• Advise the officers responsible for contracts and administration at GIZ and the private partners on regulations and administrative procedures of partnership projects
• Coordinate the drawing up of technical and financial contracts in close cooperation with relevant parties
• Secure due diligence in reporting related to all partnerships in operation
• Maintain contacts to industrial and commercial associations, individual companies, donor partners, Government and civil society institutions that playa key role for the GIZ project portfolio in Tanzania
• Analyse cooperation possibilities with similar Donor activities in the area of Development
Partnerships
• Assist the GIZ office in any other areas of PPP support and administrative matters as need arises

Required Entry Qualifications and Competencies
• University degree, preferably in business administration/economics or international economics
• Minimum of 5 years of professional working experience in a similar position
• Good networking contacts in industry and with institutions in the private sector
• Proven track record in international project management, and in the acquisition and implementation of multi stakeholder partnerships
• Well versed in economic and development-policy issues
• Ability to quickly familiarize with the public private partnership programme and represent it convincingly in the media and vis-a-vis partnering companies
• Used to work independently and to combine confidently conceptual work with project implementation, including financial and administrative aspects.
• Good conceptional skills and ability to express ideas clearly and persuasively both orally and in writing
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills
• Clear understanding of the different roles, contrasting demands and responsibilities of public and private sector players in society
• Ability to identify the possibilities for collaboration while respecting the diversity and core competences of each sector "
• Confident and secure in an international work context
• A very good knowledge of English. A basic knowledge of German is an advantage.
