The International Rescue Committee (IRC) coordinates the provision of services across a broad spectrum of sectors in Kigoma Region, Tanzania. This position is responsible for supporting the Youth Livelihoods & Development activities in Nyarugusu refugee camp in Kasulu District. This position reports to the Youth Livelihoods & Development Supervisor (YLD-S) and assists with the supervision of refugee incentive staff.
IRC seeks to recruit qualified, energetic and committed candidates to fill the following position:
Position: Youth and Livelihood Officer
Location: Nyarugusu Camp, Kasulu
Reporting to: Youth Livelihoods and Development Supervisor
Specific duties:
· Support the YLD-S in the management and implementation of youth livelihoods and development activities in Nyarugusu refugee camp
· Support the YLD-S to identify social needs and problems of vulnerable youth and identify appropriate responses. Support cultural, sports and recreational activities for youth in camps, in collaboration with incentive staff and community groups.
· Lead the introduction of sports aimed to target female participation, including community awareness raising on the issue.
· Support youth activities with particular focus on ASRH and HIV/AIDs issues, liaising with Health IP in the camp and IRC's GBV sector as appropriate.
· Support the implementation of livelihoods programs for the youth population.
· Support UAM and Separated Children who are transitioning from childhood to adulthood.
· Support community accountability structures, advocacy and awareness raising activities, including meetings, trainings and campaigns.
· Prepare work plans, proposals and monthly/donor reports in collaboration with the YLD-S and/or other programs staff as requested.
Requirements:
· Diploma in social work or relevant social science with at least 1 years relevant work experience; OR at least 3 years relevant work experience.
· Experience working with children and youth, and especially vulnerable youth desirable.
· Basic IT skills: knowledge of MS Word; Excel and Outlook required
· Swahili and basic English skills required. French a plus.
