The Southern Highlands Participatory Organisation (SHIPO) is a Tanzanian Non Governmental Organisation (NGO) based in Njombe, Tanzania.
SHIPO facilitates people in rural villages and Community Based Organizations (CBO's) to plan and execute small-scale self-help projects in the district of Njombe and Ludewa.
SHIPO's aim is to facilitate organized groups (e.g. communities, women groups) with the successful implementation of self-help projects that contribute to the improvement of their living standards and the alleviation of poverty.
Duties and responsibility
• As a Technical Officer you are responsible for coordinating several construction projects in the department.
• Supervising, coordinating, budgeting and planning of building projects.
• Planning and follow up on projects status and inform Technical Department Manager on the progress.
• Ability to prepare reports on time.
• Preparation and Facilitation of Technical training activities for project committees, caretakers, operation and maintenance committees and other actors in the community development process.
Skills and Competences
The applicant should posses a Diploma in civil engineering or FTC from a recognized institution with at least 2 years relevant experience in civil construction.
• Ability to work technically in rural areas.
• Good communication skills in both English and Swahili languages.
• Effective in verbal, written and listening skills and computer literacy is MS Office.
• Ability to work as team with mult-cultural dimensions.
• Ability to drive motorcycle is an added advantages
• Ability to solve problems and be creative.
• Ability to use technical software such as Auto-CAD, arch card, etc
