Purpose of the Position
To strengthen ZOA's donor relations in Afghanistan, ZOA is looking for a Donor Relations Manager. The Donor Relations Manager is a member of the Management Team and reports to the Country Director of Afghanistan.
Under the guidance and supervision of the Country Director the post holder will:
  1. Develop annual funding acquisition plan;
  2. Acquire funding from institutional donors (organize/manage timelines and write funding proposals);
  3. Jointly with the Country Director manage relations with existing and potential donors;
  4. Monitor timely, quality reporting in line with donor and head office requirements.
Tasks and responsibilities
The Donor Relations Manager is responsible for the following tasks, responsibilities and results:
Donor Account Management
  • Manage the Liaison Office in Kabul and develop its capacity and utility as a fundraising office;
  • Initiates and maintains contacts with institutional donors based in Afghanistan or in the region;
  • Map regularly the donor landscape and cycle in Afghanistan;
  • Coordinates, drafts, reviews and submits project concept-notes and proposals for approval by the Country Director;
  • Monitors the timelines and the quality of Donor reporting;
  • Planning and facilitation of donor visits;
  • Support ZOA's contribution in the Cluster System and track and develop access to the Common Humanitarian Action Plan (CHAP);
  • Liaises with the Fundraising Department in the Netherlands.
Profile
We expect the candidate to recognize him/herself in the following profile:
Identity
  • Being a Christian; adhering to the Christian identity of ZOA;
  • The candidate is expected to support the vision and mission of ZOA.
Knowledge and experience
  • Masters in Development or related degrees (preferred);
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in international relief and/or development, with a substantial focus on organisational management & control;
  • Experience of working with institutional donors such as UN World Bank, the EU, USAID etc.;
  • Experience and proven success in proposal writing for larger grants;
  • Excellent spoken and written command of English.

Special conditions and circumstances
  • The appointment is subject to approval of a visa by the government of Afghanistan;
  • This job contains frequent travelling, including field visits; up to 30%;
  • The post will be based in Kabul but with travel to Field Stations which will also be regarded as duty station. Accommodation will be in a studio apartment at the Liaison Office in Kabul. Internet is available in the accommodation.
