The UK Representation to the EU is looking for an EU Secondee Support Officer, to act as the main point of contact for all British Seconded National Experts and trainees to the EU institutions.
This role would suit an individual with excellent organisation skills. The successful applicant will have a track record in delivering a good customer service. They will be a strong team player who enjoys meeting new people and creating a network of contacts to work with and through.
Responsibilities:
The job holder will work closely with UKREP, FCO and Cabinet office EU staffing teams, and act as the main UKREP contact point for the 150 UK secondees to the EU institutions.
They will be responsible for delivering a top notch service to the UK's EU secondees (but current and potential), including:
- Advertising EU secondee openings so as to reach as wide an audience as possible;
- Processing applications and assisting with selecting/placement of candidates as required;
- Managing the administrative procedures to formalise secondments in a timely and efficient manner;
- Acting as a first point of call and keeping in regular contact with our EU secondee community (through a wide range of methods including events, management of SNE buddy system, regular updates on political or corporate developments etc );
- Ensuring that SNEs have access to – and make the most of - learning and development opportunities open to them;
- Developing good working relations with DG HR and opposite numbers from other Member States;
- Keeping files up to date so that information can be easily accessed when needed;
- Other administrative and general support for the EU Central Staffing Unit and the UKRep Political and Staffing team as required, including helping to organise visits and to cover for other team members during absences.
The job holder will also support the Corporate Services team as business needs require, including:
- Responsibility for delivery of practical support to British Seconded National Experts (SNEs) posted to the EU Institutions;
- Liaison with the various Brussels communes concerning registration of SNEs;
- Accompanying new arrivals to the commune and assisting them with their registration;
- Assisting SNEs with their healthcare registration;
- Advising SNEs on how to approach / where to look for advice on any issues raised;
- Providing general office and administrative support to the Team which supports UK-based staff, including information management and record keeping.
Essential skills & competences:
Essential on arrival:
- Proven excellent organisational ability;
- Strong track record in delivering customer service;
- High quality communications skills and good at working with and through other stakeholders;
- Proven ability to work in a team and handle sometimes sensitive personal data;
- Fluent command of English and French (both oral and written).

Desirable skills:
- Knowledge of the EU institutions and awareness of their internal staffing rules and procedures would be highly desirable.
The successful applicant will have the opportunity to attend the full range of UKREP excellence training courses.
This is a full-time post but we would be open to considering suggestions for flexible working. This position will be filled on a fixed term contract.
Taxable gross monthly salary: € 2286.10
