Chief of Party - Promoting Tanzania's Environment, Conservation and Tourism Activity (PROTECT)
International Resources Group (IRG), a wholly owned subsidiary of Engility, seeks an experienced Chief of Party for the anticipated USAID-funded Promoting Tanzania's Environment, Conservation and Tourism Activity (PROTECT) project. The activity will address dynamics in Tanzania that threaten biodiversity conservation and inhibit private sector-led tourism growth. This will incorporate a series of integrated and overlapping interventions that support and strengthen capacity for biodiversity conservation in a manner which: (i) reduces threats to biodiversity, and actively contributes to the conservation of biodiversity at a landscape scale, (ii) contributes significantly to rural development and diversification, employment, poverty alleviation, community enrichment and empowerment of women and youth, (iii) strengthens biodiversity, rural communities and the tourism value chain while reducing vulnerability to climate change, and (iv) strengthens a wide range of organizations so they can participate effectively in the policy process.
Responsibilities:
The Chief of Party will provide overall technical, administrative, and financial management leadership; prepare, review and monitor contract reporting and deliverables; oversee the recruitment and engagement of technical staff; liaise with the IRG home office, relevant USAID personnel, and project partners; and provide technical implementation expertise as necessary to project components, including:
· Environmental Policy, Research and Advocacy
· Public and Private Institutional Strengthening
· Nature-based Economic Strengthening and Diversification
· Combating Wildlife Poaching and Trafficking
Qualifications:
· Minimum 15 years of managerial and technical experience in environmental policy reform, environmental enterprise development, or biodiversity conservation.
· Master's degree required in relevant field.
· Demonstrated supervisory or leadership experience on large, complex donor-funded development projects.
· Ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders.
· East Africa experience required, experience in Tanzania a plus.
· Must be fluent in English with strong report writing ability.
