Whats interesting is that this skill was ranked as top position in last year's Hot skills survey as well. As the survey says 49 per cent of those responding said that they are planning to hire people with this skill upcoming year.
The survey also called that the developer and programmer openings are one of the most difficult ones to be filled. And the specialties which are most desired in this category are mobile development expertise and building secure applications.
2. Help desk/technical support
On the 2 position stands the help desk/tech support positions. This a jump of one position as compared to last year's ranking. The survey says 37 per cent recruiters responded that they are planning to hire help desk and technical support people.
Yes, many companies now are bringing back their in-house help-desk functions which is a major factor contribute to the rise in the position of this skill.
3. Networking
The third position this year has been taken in a dramatic 5 position jump by 'networking'. The skill ws placed on no. 8 in 2013 but basis the study 31 respondents in this survey said that they are planning to hire for this skill in the coming 12 months.
The rise in wireless connectivity demand is one major reason contributing to this profession says the survey quoting Scot Melland, CEO of Dice Holdings.
4. Mobile applications and device management
On forth position stands 'mobile applications and device management'. 27 per cent of the survey respondents voted for this skill. The never ending and increasing growth of mobile devices is a major contributer to bring this skill on no. 4 from last year's no. 9.
5. Project management
'Project management' stood next on this list securing 25 per cent votes from the respondents who said that they are planning to hire professionals with this skill in the upcoming year. Although this skill fell no. 2 spot of last year.
6. Database administration
No. 6 is the 'Database Administration' with 24 per cent respondents hailing this skill. The growing scope of Big data is definitely one big factor fueling the demand for 'Database Administration' professionals.
7. Security compliance/governance
With 21 per cent of votes, 'Security Compliance/Governance' ranked no. 7 on the list. With the ecommerce and cases of malware and cyberattacks growing globally this skill was definite to hit the list!
8. Business intelligence/analytics
Ranked at no. 8 Business intelligence/analytics got 18 per cent support of the respondents. The skill was one of the fastest growing skills on the list as its demand has witnessed a 100% jump, says the report quoting Dice's Melland.
