ROLE PROFILE
Job Title: Supply Planner
Level: L5
Reports To: Supply Chain Planning Manager

Context/Scope: Serengeti Breweries Limited (SBL) is a fully integrated beverage business in Diageo Africa (supply and demand for beer and spirits) It is a subsidiary of East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), the largest business unit in Diageo Africa and the largest listed Company on the NSE in Kenya. SBL operates exclusively in Tanzania and is the second largest beer company with a market share of around 25%.
SBL was incorporated in 1988 as Associated Breweries Limited and changed its name to Serengeti Breweries Limited in 2002, and commenced commercial operations in 1996 with one brewery in Dar es Salaam. The company was acquired by EABL in October 2010 and has three breweries located in Dar es Salaam, Mwanza and Moshi.

SBL flagship brand is Serengeti Premium Lager. Other brand portfolios include Tusker Lager, Tusker Lite, Kibo Gold, The Kick, Uhuru Peak, and Senator. Headquartered in Dar es Salaam, SBL is also the distributor of several global Diageo international renowned spirit brands such as Johnnie Walker®, Smirnoff Vodka®, Bailey's Irish Cream ®, Richot®, Bond 7 Whiskey® and Gilbeys Gin®.

Market Complexity SBL operates in a competitive environment and in a vast geography. The main player in the beer industry is Tanzania Breweries Ltd. (TBL), a subsidiary of SABMiller. Inflation rates remain high in Tanzania and average income per capita is less than 1 USD per day. The GDP growth is estimated at 7% and is expected to grow to 7.5% as investment, gold production, trade and tourism pick up. There is growing consumer affluence and consumerism, giving rise to greater opportunities in our product categories
Purpose of Role The supply planner's role is to coordinate and facilitate a continuous production and replenishment of products or materials and identify and report risk and opportunity to the overall supply of products or materials.
They are required to support development of case volumes and inventory projections that get used to make operational and financial decisions.
Additionally they strengthen and sustain continuous communication and relationship with their key stake holders
Top 3-5 Accountabilities
  • Responsible to communicate with all relevant touch points within the supply chain regarding overall supply of product / materials.
  • Responsible to develop monthly 12-month rolling supply plan.
  • Responsible for weekly and monthly supply and product availability reporting including KPIs.
  • Responsible for active participation in new product start-ups and run-outs.
  • Responsible to maintain system databases
  • Responsible to conduct extensive data and root cause analysis of multiple information streams.
  • Responsible to identify risks and/or opportunities to the overall supply plan and execute necessary changes.
  • Responsible to maintain consistent inventory management practices
Qualifications and Experience Required
  • Degree or graduate caliber.
  • Holding APICS supply chain qualification or in progress to achieving supply chain, logistics qualification.
  • Excellent analytical I.T. and numerical skills
  • Fundamental knowledge of the supply process from procurement to brewing/ packaging, distribution and market requirements.
  • Generation of spreadsheets, building of models
  • Passionate with process improvement and attention to detail.
  • Good completer/finisher and able to work under pressure to complete tasks on time and in line with overall planning processes.
  • Good implementation skills
  • Strong problem solving ability and skills to influence key stakeholders to take business versus functional decisions.
  • SAP conversant

Inability to influence broadly across all internal and external stakeholders to achieve expected objectives.
