Head of Corporate Communications and CSR - TIGO
JOB PURPOSE
Reporting to the General Manager, the Head of Corporate Communications and CSR will manage internal and external engagements and Corporate Social Responsibility. You will initiate, manage and deliver all corporate communications strategy to ensure Tigo has a clear identity and high levels of goodwill and understanding among the various stakeholder groups and wider audience.
You will work cross-functionally to develop and ensure strategic management of stakeholder relationships including implementing strategies for influencing key stakeholders especially the media.
As a leader and authority on Communications, you will act as the first line spokesperson for the company and present our position to the media as delegated by the GM. You will also manage all company publications.

Key Responsibilities

EXTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
Strategic PR
• Provide a yearly and quarterly strategic stakeholder engagement document.
• Provide strategic communication direction for all campaigns and projects.
• Proactively identify PR opportunities for Tigo Tanzania and organise a PR stunt quarterly.
• Lead cross functional teams in the process of crises communication management.


Media Reports
• Initiate and syndicate a regular news flow to target media circles (Insights- driven) which includes specific national and regional newspapers, radio and online. These should be the right message targeted to the right customer segments with the right angle.
• Track key news programmes daily and advice Tigo on both positive and negative stories impacting the company.
• Provide Tigo website, call centre and Facebook administrator with all press releases as soon as they are approved.
• Ensure prompt action is taken on negative stories that impact Tigo Tanzania through rejoinders and other accepted means of rebuttal when appropriate.
• Track news coverage of Tigo news and events and provide report on each event.
• Develop and maintain an influential Media Contact List for Tigo Tanzania.
• Own and manage a press line where the media can call for any information on Tigo's products and services. Provide a monthly report on all activities on the press line.


Media Event Management
• Provide press pack including releases at all Tigo media events.
• Develop and maintain calendar of key external media events.
• Initiate at least one media event quarterly to strengthen to establish and develop relationships among media organisations.

Awards
• Draw up a list of key business awards that Tigo must participate in.
• Make suggestions on awards that will enhance the Tigo brand and support the Marketing team to prepare and submit applications for such awards.

GM Visibility
• Work with the GM's office to draw up a visibility and engagement plan to raise the profile of Tigo's GM and other key stakeholders.
• Advise on key events that drive visibility and build relationships with our key stakeholders.

Stakeholder Activations
• Undertake a Media Perception audit – a detailed survey among Media Editors and Media Professionals about their perception towards brand "Tigo" and work towards building a positive image.
• Identify and arrange a minimum of three courtesy calls to influential media organisations every year.
• Provide a stakeholder mapping template for Tigo Tanzania.

Reports
• Prepare and submit weekly media plans VP for Communications within agreed timelines.

News Coverage and Placement
• Arrange media/press coverage of all corporate events and initiatives as required.
• Place news stories, releases and features in agreed media circles.


INTERNAL COMMUNICATIONS
• Develop internal communication plans for a range of projects, initiatives, policies and implement them.
• Develop other effective channels of communications to drive employee communication and engagement (beyond Yammer and emails).
• Ensure that all external communications are first executed and celebrated in-house.
• Manage all internal CSR activities including Tigo Spirit across the country.
• Develop and manage an in-house quarterly staff recognition awards scheme based on Tigo's Pillars.
• Ensure messages from senior management and Millicom Group are properly reflected in communications to internal stakeholders.
• Liase with HR to organise Staff durbar/for a GM and other internal stakeholders to address staff quarterly.
• Introducing ENPS as a means of measuring employee engagement across the business.

CORPORATE BEHAVIOUR AND CSR
• Lead in the development of strategies for managing corporate social responsibility programmes and initiatives, in line with Millicom's global CSR strategy.
• Liaise with key stakeholders and departments in the identification and selection of projects and partnerships that align with the Tigo's Corporate Social Responsibility strategy.
• Ensure the sustainability and visibility of all CSR initiatives including providing good PR mileage.
Position Requirements

QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE
• University degree in Communication, Marketing, or social sciences
• 10+ years relevant post National Service working experience in Telecoms/Media/;
• Fluent in English, Swahili both written and Spoken

• Proven record of practical public relations or communications experience at a strategic level.
• Experience in communications, journalism, public affairs, CSR and community relations.
• Wide range of contacts in both local and international media.
• Proven ability on communications and stakeholder relations.

• Creative and critical thinking abilities with an eye for detail.
• Excellent presentation, oral and written communication skills
• Ability to work under pressure and time constraints
• Computer literate and tech savvy.
• Ability to work effectively with a wide range of cultures in a diverse community.
• Willingness to travel to undertake events across the country.
• Excellent interpersonal skills
