II. Program Description: The Program Development (PD) team sits within TechnoServe's Development Division. We are a team based in DC that provides support to TechnoServe's country offices in the identification, design and development of new business initiatives that support our mission and help achieve our strategic goals. We work closely with new business managers in each geographic region and country field offices. The Program Development Associate is a central part of the PD team. It is a role in which an individual will become familiar with all the programming happening across the organization, support major proposals within the organization. The person will be a dynamic participant in all aspects of program development.
III. Position Description
  • Provide programmatic, administrative, and human resources (HR) content development support on project design and proposal development to Development Division, and country and regional offices.
  • Develop and update key proposal inputs, including customized past performance references (PPRs), corporate capability statements, and other programmatic information.
  • Contribute to Development Division efforts around benchmarking, best practice sharing, and ongoing improvement of new business development tools/processes.
  • Support contact management with donors and partners.
  • Develop regular reports and updates on program development and revenue generation for new business to various internal departments, including maintaining and upgrading the revenue pipeline, as resources are available.
  • Provide support for editing, proofreading, graphics, CVs, formatting, past performance, and other administrative inputs to proposals.

  • Provide shared administrative assistance to the Senior Vice President/ Development Division, including organizing calendar, travel, timesheet, and expenses.
IV. Required Skills & Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in international relations, economics, business, or related field
  • Proven ability to successfully execute complex tasks working independently
  • 2 – 4 years of work experience
  • Must be detail-oriented, with strong organizational and time management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Must possess strong editing/proof-reading skills and abilities
  • Proven team player with strong interpersonal and cross-cultural skills
  • Excellent PC skills in Word , Excel, PowerPoint
V. Preferred Skills & Experience
  • Work in a new business development team in a high performing international development organization
  • Passionate interest in helping the poor improve their livelihoods
  • Ability to speak Spanish, French, or Portuguese a plus
  • Quantitative analysis skills a plus
  • Good sense of humor
  • Proven ability to anticipate demand, manage multiple tasks/projects and meet tight deadlines
  • desktop publishing skills a plus
VI. Physical Requirements:
  • The incumbent must sit for an extended number of hours throughout the day using a computer, talking by telephone or Skype and meeting with others.
  • This person must occasionally lift items which weigh up to 20 lbs. and must be capable of lifting and pulling their luggage when traveling.
  • Other requirements include climbing stairs, walking and bending.
