ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
This position will include a wide range of marketing activities, such as writing for the web (social media, email, blogs); sourcing, sizing and editing photos using Photoshop; managing social media projects; working with marketing team members to develop stories told in multiple marketing channels (media, social media, email, etc.); working with the media team to translate traditional media relations into rich, digital content; and tracking success/results. There is also an opportunity to create a unique project run by the intern.
We are looking for an intern who is a team player, creative thinker, strong storyteller, interested in conservation and preparing for a career in communications and marketing.
  • Work with various members of the marketing team as well as with staff across TNC departments
  • Write, edit and proof web and other marketing collateral
  • Work with the media team to translate media stories to web content
  • Develop multi-channel stories with media potential and content for digital channels
  • Manage social media channels
  • Upload and edit blogs on our CMS: Conserveca.org
  • Support marketing team on online and offline promotions
  • Provide general support to marketing team
  • Support media team in securing favorable news stories about conservation.
  • Provide support to systems and data analyst to track success of promotions and marketing activities.
  • Track progress of projects and report back on results; share lessons learned to be applied in the future
  • Track media mentions and build monthly reports
  • Update photo and video archives, conduct photo and video searches, prep photos for use in print and digital
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Public Relations or related field (current and recent college grads) and 1 yr work experience or equivalent combination.
  • Experience writing, editing and proofreading, especially public relations, web and social media content.
  • Experience working with Microsoft Office suite and Photoshop or other editing software.
  • Experience using Facebook, Twitter and other social networking tools.
  • Experience managing projects - as an individual and for teams.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of current trends in social media
  • Concise and conversational writer
  • Knowledge of AP Style and/or experience adhering to a style guide
  • Experience using Photoshop or other comparable program to size, manipulate and design visual content.
