The trainee will support the Market, Trade and Agricultural Policy desk at COCERAL with the following tasks:
- Monitor trade negotiations and international policy developments that impact agricultural trade;
- Collect and process crop forecasts and other statistics connected to agricultural production and trade;
- Follow the publication of regulations affecting agricultural trade, e.g. fixing of import duties, issuing of import licences, etc.
- Prepare circulars and reports to inform COCERAL members about the developments in the above mentioned fields;
- Participate to meetings and report back to the desk; draft the minutes of the meetings;
- Contribute to produce policy positions and reach out to the EU institutions.
The ideal trainee:
- Holds a university degree;
- Has experience with the functioning of the European institutions;
- Is familiar with agricultural-related policy;
- Has an excellent English knowledge (spoken and written);
- Is proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office programmes, including Excel;
- Is keen to work in a European environment, is flexible and a team-player;
The traineeship will last at least 6/8 months, with the possibility of extension to 1 year. Expected start of the traineeship: as soon as possible but not later than November 2014.
