Based in Nairobi, you'll be our main representative in East African and Southern African markets in Africa, working to deliver, develop and enhance our business activities in English and Swahili speaking markets across the continent. You'll work closely with the Head of Business Development Africa, to develop a coherent strategy for exploiting market opportunities, including identifying and achieving targets across radio, TV, online and mobile sectors. You'll enjoy prospecting with media providers, regulatory authorities, and technical service providers both to manage existing outlets and to develop new partnerships and accounts. You'll also work collaboratively with wider Business Development teams, Editorial teams, Marketing, and BBC Worldwide to increase the impact of BBC Global News in this region. Ultimately, you'll be working to ensure wider availability of our output whilst maintaining our reputation, independence and editorial integrity.
As well as ensuring that the strategy for East & Southern Africa informs the annual regional business plan, you'll also work with our lawyers to lead contract negotiations wherever required. You'll enable us to form long-term relationships that will secure distribution outlets to make the BBC's journalism more widely available. You'll maintain appropriate information systems, reporting frequently on performance against targets and will implement a systematic pricing policy, whilst continuing to uphold the BBC's editorial values.
